My name is Al Clapsaddle. I am a Senior Sales Consultant at Saturn West in Columbus, Ohio. I built this website as a way for me to keep in touch with past customers and to introduce visitors to the NEW Saturn of Columbus, Pre-Owned Advantage, Business Plan. This site is a work-in-progress; I hope you find it informative and helpful. I’m open to ideas and suggestions that you’d like to see on this site. I plan to continuously update this site with new information as time permits. Please send me an E-Mail with your comments. This started a loyalty to Saturn that has extended to ten of my personal family members and meant 47  purchases of Saturns. We have had at least 1 Saturn from every model year, starting with the 93 SC1 and ending with the 2009 AURA XE.

History

It all started in 1994. My then 16 year old son wanted to get his first car. At the time I was driving a 1994 Toyota Camry XLE. Consequently, I took him to the place where I bought my Toyotas (it was my 5th Toyota).

He did not like the looks of the Toyotas and told me that he really wanted a Saturn. At that time the only things I knew about Saturns were, that they charged STICKER price and were made out of plastic. This started an extensive journey that ended with me trading my 1994 Camry for a 1994 Saturn SL2.

The buying process was so straight forward and I never felt ANY pressure to buy the car. I also was able to talk to the then President of Saturn Skip LeFauve. Mr. LeFauve spent approximately 20 minutes on the telephone explaining Saturns’ policies and answering my “millions” of questions. I also received a call from a local Saturn Retailer Partner, who took time to discuss Saturn with me. I felt as though I was buying a Porsche and I was some sort of “celebrity.”

In 1996, I was part of a group of Saturn owners that started the Central Ohio Saturn CarClub and became its first President. Today we have about 150 members and I am now the CarClub Champion. This position place me as the go between with the CarClub and Saturn of Columbus. Our CarClub is one of the largest in the nation and the only one that has visited Spring Hill, TN [the Birth Place of Saturn] from 1996 to 2005.

In 2001, after 33 years with AT&T and Lucent Technologies, I took an early retirement and came to Saturn/West as a Sales Consultant. To me this is a dream come true. I am a Saturn owner (currently have a 2008 Saturn Aura XE 4 Cylinder) and I get to help those who are interested in my hobby/job of Saturn. To Many, I am known as Mr. Saturn. To others I am also a friend, when needed.

I believe in what I do and I always try to do the best for not only Saturn of Columbus, but for my customers. It is easy to see why I not only have customers in the Columbus, Ohio area but also in Michigan, Virginia, South Carolina and Washington D.C.

My plans originally were to work a couple of years and then retire and go sailing. Now I want to work until I’m 62 which will be another 2 years.
